How to understand the core spirit of Wenzhou entrepreneurs in the new era, and how to integrate and implement the entrepreneurial spirit into all aspects of the enterprise, I would like to offer a few ideas.
1. Persistent focus on the main business
The predecessor of Cheng Yi Pharmaceutical was the Tongshan Pharmaceutical Factory founded in October 1966. Since the establishment of the company for 53 years, we have been rooted in the island and firmly adhere to our main business.
Over the past 53 years, our flagship products have been launched one after another, all of which are good medicines that are close to people's livelihoods. For example, in the 1980s, we were the first to produce the antibiotic "lincomycin hydrochloride" in the province; The earliest production of antiviral drug "ribavirin capsules" in the province and its contribution to the national fight against SARS; We are the largest pharmaceutical enterprise in China that produces the excellent medicine "Hydrochloric Glucosamine Capsules" for the treatment of bone and joint diseases; We also produce a new generation of highly efficient loop diuretic "Tolasemide Injection"; We have launched the "Danyining Tablets" for the treatment of biliary diseases, which is an exclusive Chinese medicine variety nationwide; Our "VK1 injection" for treating vitamin deficiency is in short supply in the market. These products are closely related to the health and happiness of the people.

To be honest, in the 53 years since the establishment of the enterprise, we have also had multiple "premeditations" to move away from Dongtou on the island when various governments have extended preferential policies for investment promotion. Many entrepreneurs on land cannot experience the unforgettable pain of the island's past lack of electricity, water, transportation, and information. Fortunately, we have always been able to get the "timely rain" that has been sent by various Party committees and governments in Dongtou to solve the urgent difficulties faced by enterprises, and finally overcome each difficulty.
On March 15, 2017, Cheng Yi Pharmaceutical was listed on the main board of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, becoming the seventh main board listed enterprise in Wenzhou. At present, our company's five products, ribavirin, azathioprine, tolasemide injection, glucosamine hydrochloride, and glucosamine hydrochloride capsules, have been rated as excellent industrial products in Zhejiang Province in 2018, and have delivered a satisfactory answer to the society.
2. Confidence in going abroad
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has proposed to strengthen the "Four Confidences", which is also a new requirement for entrepreneurs across the country. Imagine a company that dares not even venture abroad, where does its "confidence" start? For entrepreneurs, a specific manifestation of firm "four confidences" is the courage to go abroad, compare their own excellent products with similar foreign products, and establish the pride and self-esteem of national industry. In this regard, Cheng Yi Pharmaceutical has made some bold attempts and achieved certain results.
Around 1997, I sought various ways to find a good way to "go abroad". After understanding the rules and details of the world drug trade at that time, I am determined to pass international certification and legally and legally enter the international market with my products. So, we invited experts in the field of "rules" to provide comprehensive training for the company's technical personnel. According to international certification standards, the workshop, equipment, and production conditions have been renovated to produce standardized chemical raw materials.
In early December 1998, we finally achieved success: first, the raw material of ribavirin passed the official certification of the Australian National Drug Administration, and then multiple products passed the official certification of countries and relevant institutions such as the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Mexico, etc., becoming one of the earliest pharmaceutical companies in China to go abroad.
In September 2010, a "four country, three party" joint audit officer from the US FDA, EU EMEA, Australia TGA, and Singapore National Drug Administration as observers came to Cheng Yi Pharmaceutical to conduct on-site audit certification for the company's production of three raw materials, including ribavirin and azathioprine. This is the first international joint certification in the global pharmaceutical industry, opening the "convenient door" for Chinese pharmaceutical companies to stride towards the world.
After the company goes public, we have made greater and more stable strides abroad. At present, we have established a branch in Canada to develop and produce innovative traditional Chinese medicine products. In the practice of vigorously promoting traditional Chinese culture and firmly establishing cultural confidence, we have made our modest contribution.
3. The ability to vacate a cage and exchange birds
Currently, there are common problems in the traditional manufacturing industry in China, such as low quality, slow growth, and being large but not strong. In fact, over the past two decades, our company's operating revenue has also been hovering between 100 to 200 million yuan, with few breakthroughs. Entering 2019, the company has planned a "1 billion yuan enterprise scale" and an "ambitious" plan has been drafted.
Our approach is to relocate the "three major centers" to Shanghai. In order to achieve the goal of "swapping cages for birds", we relocated our marketing center, technology development center, and securities affairs center to the Hongqiao Business District of Shanghai in June 2018, actively integrating into the Yangtze River Delta and connecting with the forefront of international innovative drugs. At present, a development model centered around Shanghai, with "front store and back factory" and "headquarters leading", is being formed by Cheng Yi Pharmaceutical.
Second, focus on the construction of the "one station, two institutes" research and development system. We have established the first academician and expert workstation in Dongtou, Chengyi Pharmaceutical Big Health Research Institute (provincial-level enterprise research institute), and jointly built the "One Station and Two Institutes" of the New Drug Research Institute with Wenzhou Medical University, achieving the transformation and upgrading to marine medicine, biopharmaceuticals, and traditional Chinese medicine. Since the establishment of the "One Stop, Two Institutes" R&D system, the company has continuously recruited scientists, professors, and scholars as core members of the R&D team, agreed on major strategic topics, set the tone for the company's "big health" products, and achieved phased results.
Three efforts should be made to transform the "old and new driving forces". With the care of party committees and governments at all levels, in 2018, we invested nearly 500 million yuan in the construction of the Cheng Yi Pharmaceutical Health Industrial Park, with over 200 million yuan invested in the optical equipment of the preparation building. We will build a comprehensive preparation production base that is currently leading in China and can be visited throughout the entire process, with automation, informatization, intelligence, and standardization. We will produce multiple varieties and dosage forms including small volume injections, freeze-dried powder injections, capsules, tablets, powder oral formulations, etc The multi specification pharmaceutical products enable the company's annual production capacity of pharmaceutical products to reach over 1 billion yuan. The industrial park only took one and a half years from construction to completion, reflecting not only the "Cheng Yi speed" but also the "acceleration" of the "maximum one run" reform. At the same time, we have invested over 6 million yuan in the construction and implementation of ERP projects, promoting the integration of enterprise cloud and mobile orders, mobile office, and achieving the organic integration of industrialization and informatization.
We believe that the path of transformation for Cheng Yi Pharmaceutical will become wider and wider.
4. The Duty of Honest Management
Honest management is the foundation of any enterprise. Since the establishment of our company for 53 years, our business network has become wider and our customer and friend circle have become larger, which is a good result of "integrity, sincerity, and sincere hospitality".
Not only that. In my opinion, honest management is also conducive to creating a clean and upright corporate culture.
In August 2018, we led the city in carrying out the construction of "clean and honest enterprises". The specific content includes: firstly, strengthening institutional construction. All integrity clauses should be written into company documents, agreements, and contracts, and commitment letters and responsibility letters should be signed to ensure implementation. The second is to have sunlight everywhere without leaving any blind spots. In the construction of various projects, not only should management personnel maintain integrity, but also prevent waste and pay attention to economy. The third is to extend to various fields of the company. We need to extend to areas such as quality, safety, and environmental protection. If unqualified products are pushed to the market, it is the biggest corruption of enterprises, and Changchun Changsheng is a clear example of the opposite. The fourth is to have a spirit of loyalty, responsibility, and self-discipline. Only by being honest and upright can one bravely shoulder heavy burdens.
